In fact, having a little inside knowledge of the sport can be the difference between having a good time and having a fantastic time! Are you ready for us to share a few of our top tips with you? Great, let’s get started!
Tip 1 – Pack Light!
Unless you are an absolute pro in the world of stand up paddle board fishing you are going to want to bring minimal gear with you on the best fishing paddle board. Otherwise, you will spend the whole day worrying about losing it all! Another point to consider is that you need to master the art of keeping your balance. You will likely find this a whole lot easier when you don’t have a heap of gear sharing your board with you.
Tip 2 – Figure out Your Exit Point In Advance
If you are used to launching a kayak, you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting going from the beach. However, coming back in is where the trouble can begin. If there is one tip you are going to follow, please make it this one; know your exit point!
It doesn’t need to be too much of a challenge to master this tip. Merely survey the area and decide where would be safe to get off your board and make it back to the beach. Remember, you also want to make sure your board doesn’t get damaged when you are ready to call it a day. Nasty rocks can scratch or even damage your board so try to get off when the water is still around waist level. That way you can carry your board to shore with everything intact.
Tip 3 – Don’t Be Overly Ambitious On Your First Day Out!
Like most other activities, getting the hang of stand up paddle board fishing can take some time, however, with the right amount of patience it can all be worthwhile. Take your time to master the basics, learn from the experts and most of all enjoy the experience. Once you start to feel comfortable and confident on the board, you will soon see that taking your paddleboard out on the water for a spot of fishing has to be one of life’s amazing treasures.
